Sewa Museum, Radhanpur - Proposed 2012

NGO SEWA, established by Ila Bhat, wanted a museum and cultural community space for its own crafts creating communities. The younger generations were losing their traditional skills and turning into factory labourers that the elders saw as a great loss.
This final objective of the museum was envisaged to provide employment, education and modern craft skills though interactions with researchers, students, designers, and tourists for their younger population.

Client Proposal: A set of guidelines was prepared for designing the community museum. It included the need of sourcing local talent for conservation, display and curation for more proactive involvement. This proposal was appreciated by the National Institute of Design (NID) that was coordinating with SEWA for the Museum Design project.
